The name Rennie Mackintosh has been inspired by the famous Glaswegian Architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Charles Rennie Mackintosh was born in Glasgow on 7 June 1868 to William McIntosh and Margaret Rennie as the fourth out of eleven children and the second son.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh (June 7, 1868 – December 10, 1928) was a Scottish architect, designer, and water colorist. He was a designer in the Arts and Crafts movement and also the main exponent of Art Nouveau in the United Kingdom. He had a considerable influence on European design.
The Rennie Mackintosh Station Hotel is one of the oldest Victorian buildings in Glasgow and forms part of the Architectural Landscape of the city. As the name suggests the Hotel has many features in connection with Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Over the years the hotel has been refurbished but always with an eye to keeping the Mackintosh era alive also every effort is made to retain as much originality as possible.
